Meals on Wheels Rowan provides a nutritious meal delivered by volunteers who offer a friendly greeting and provide an informal safety check to homebound seniors and disabled individuals in our community. Our home-delivered meal service provides the support and peace of mind to enable them to safely age in the place of their choosing.
Our Meal Program
Normally, meals are delivered 5 days each week between the hours of 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are are limiting contact by delivering three chilled meals every Monday and two chilled meals every Thursday.
The nutritious meals each contain 1/3 of the minimum daily nutritional requirements for senior adults. Each meal includes:
- One 3 ounce serving of protein
- Two 1/3 cup servings of vegetables
- Two 1/3 cup servings of fruits
- Bread or dessert
- 8 oz. of 2% milk
Each meal has:
- At least 700 calories
- Less than 1,300 mg of sodium
- Less than 30% of its calories from fat
